Superbowl Sunday.

I got to Mom's around 3:30, with the plan of picking her up and taking her to Chuck & Alina's house for Tyler's birthday and the superbowl.  When I got upstairs, Mom was sitting at the table in the main room, and there were 4 or 5 other ladies nearby.

Hi Mom.  You look good today.

"Oh hi! Yes, I'm feeling good today too.  We're just here watching TV."

'Did you want to come with me out to camp to watch the superbowl?'

"I don't think so.  Not today.  I have the best seats in the house right here."

'Are you sure?  We're going to have a birthday party for Tyler.'

"Oh really? Be sure to get him something for me!  I think that would be too tiring for me though.  Thank you for inviting me."  She was all smiles and really calm.  It was nice to see.

I didn't stay long, but there is something noticeably different now.  I think it is just that she has adjusted to her new surroundings and feels safe there.  I was only there for a minute or two and told her I would see her tomorrow, and she wasn't doing anything to try to make me feel guilty or get me to stay.  She was quite content there with her band of new friends...none of whom she can address by name...but it would seem at least she is getting familiar with their faces and feels at home.
