Went to see Mom early today. It was around 1, just after lunch and before picking Jaymz up from school. The nurses told me she had just gone back to her room.
She looked pretty good, and was in a good mood from what I could tell. 'What have you been up to today, Mom?'
"Oh nothing. Just walking down to that other room, and now I'm back here. That's pretty much it." I didn't stay too long, just watched TV for a few minutes. I noticed she had on grandpa's old glasses again. I started looking for her good glasses...and didn't bother saying anything about there being hair brushes in the silverware drawer, or clothes in the China cabinet drawers, or lotion where the hand soap is supposed to be. I did find a sharp pendant with no back on it, which I put in my pocket rather than leave with her.
We chatted about the weekend coming up, and it being her birthday, and she asked if I could buy her some milk. They will bring her milk anytime she wants, but rather than tell her that (again), I'll probably just bring her some to keep in her fridge. I used to always buy milk and cereal to keep in her apartment (for her to eat when she slept through meals), and it might help with the 'hominess' issue.
Mom also told me about the 3 college students who were killed driving across the Woodrow Wilson bridge. 'What are you watching all that sad stuff for, Mom? Stick with the funny shows.'
"I will. They just keep interrupting them with the sad stuff."
All in all, she looked ok today.
